1999: Four founders meet, form an Executive Committee, and decide to take the dream of a botanical garden for Tulsa to reality.

2004: One-hundred-seventy acres of land in the Osage Hills eight miles northwest of downtown Tulsa are donated to the Garden by Persimmon Ridge LLC (Gentner Drummond & Tom Atherton, Principals).

2006: The Garden receives the first of two grants totaling $2.2 million from the Oklahoma Centennial Commission.

2007: A blessing of the land ceremony is held at the Garden with over 400 people in attendance. John Red Eagle, then assistant principal chief of the Osage Nation, conducts the ceremony.

2007: Groundbreaking on the Centennial Phase of the Garden's development occurs, with Tulsa Mayor Kathy Taylor and board members present.

2008: The Centennial Phase, consisting of the seven-acre Centennial Lake, the 1,200 square-foot visitor center, and the 1.5-mile access road, is dedicated.

2009: Construction of Centennial Lake is completed. Garden opens to the public for the first time for Saturday Open Houses in April.

2010: Garden receives $1 million grant from the Economic Development Administration for water and sewer infrastructure.

2011: Garden hires its first full-time CEO, Todd Lasseigne.

2012: Garden completes master plan calling for the development of 60 acres of beautiful gardens centered around Centennial Lake.
